User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Lots of pictures, no words
After buying all four of the liberty Meadows volumes and seeing the covers in the back, you probably want to see them in colour - can’t blame you.
The bulk of this book is, not surprisingly, the Liberty Meadows comic book covers (featuring Brandy!). You’ll see the inked version on the left page and the colour version on the right - both without titles, logos etc.
The colours are good and they don’t overwhelm the original art.
Near the back is covers for the collections and other assorted images.
One thing you won’t find in here is words, there are no art notes or even an index detailing which issue each picture graced. There’s no introduction and just the standard biography on the inside back flap.
The Book Description above is incorrect; Cover Girl does not include the Adam Hughes cover to Liberty Meadows #20.
Also the “from rough sketch to full color” isn’t really accurate. There are a few rough sketches but they are not compared with finished images.
But if you like Liberty Meadows you really have to get this book (and it’s easier and cheaper than tracking down comic book back-issues!).
2 Stars Capitalizing on Laziness
While Frank Cho is an excellent artist and a very good, funny writer, I find it a little frustrating that he takes the time to release so many different editions of collected Liberty Meadows comics and now this, but somehow hasn’t been able to find the time to write a new issue in over a year. Yes, he has other projects, but Liberty Meadows is his cash cow. I would like to see his art books, Frank Cho Illustrator and Frank Cho Women but I have to draw the line at YET ANOTHER Liberty Meadows product that does nothing to progress the story.
5 Stars Frank Cho is an amazing artist!
Just flip open one of his Liberty Meadows comics and you’ll easily see why I think he is one of the most talented artists around. His awesome sense of humor couples well with his artistic talent, making Liberty Meadows a fun to read series. If you are a fan of Liberty Meadows, Cover Girl would make an excellent addition to your collection.
